- Definition: Notion held by police officers that it is justifiable to fabricate or artificially improve evidence to secure the conviction of a known criminal. Derivation: Noble cause corruption was coined by Edwin DeLattre in Character and Cops: Ethics in Policing (Washington, DC: American Enterprise Institute, 1989), Ch 11.
